Stanley Goodman Youth Achievement Award Rules

American Iris Society youth members of Region 18 who are active in one or more of the following activities are eligible for nomination to receive the Stanley Goodman Regional Youth Award.

A cash prize of $100 is awarded to the winner of the award as well as automatic entry in the AIS National Youth Award competition. Runners-up receive $50 and $25 each. Nominate a youth member from your club if he or she does any, not necessarily all, of the following:

  • Grows an iris garden of his or her own
  •  Is an active iris hybridizer
  •  Has contributed to an iris publication
  • Regularly attends and participates in local iris club meetings
  • Has participated in iris club activities
  • Visits local iris gardens
  • Has attended regional or national iris conventions
  • Is studying to become or is an AIS judge
  • Has promoted irises and/or the AIS
  • Competes enthusiastically in iris shows
  • Is involved in scientific experiments with irises
  • Is interested in irises other than tall bearded irises
  • Shows leadership

Rules:
1. AIS Region 18 members may nominate AIS Region 18 youth members.
2. Entries must be in writing with name, age and address of the youth included along with a letter of nomination.
3. All nominations must be postmarked on or before June 30,  each year
